If you've read the title of my blog and thought I sound kind of down...I can reassure you I am not. In fact, there's a true story behind it that took place more than 10 years ago...
One day, I decided to sign up for one of the (then new) web mail providers. I picked HoTMaiL (with capitalization as it was back then, signifying the fact that it was written in HTML!) because I thought it sounded cool and popular.
So, I went to their site and clicked the Sign Up button. I filled out the required information and then was prompted to "Enter a uninique id" for my username. So, I obligingly entered "uniqueid" and clicked Submit. I was promptly notified that someone had already picked that one and I would have to choose another. I figured if I couldn't have a unique id, I'd try to get an UN unique ID! So, I picked "ununiqueid" and to my surprise, it was available! So, I took it!
I've signed up with this ID on several web sites and most often I continue to be surprised that I seem to be the only one who wants to have an "un" unique ID!
